OXFORD UNIVERSITY EXPLORATION CLUB: CENTENNIAL ARCTIC EXPEDITIONS
The Centennial Expeditions embark on a bold vision: seven interconnected Arctic expeditions spanning three years, culminating in retracing three historic routes pioneered by the OUEC. These journeys pay tribute to a century of exploration, showcasing the evolution of expeditionary capabilities and ethical practices.
Each expedition will forge partnerships with leading research institutions, fostering collaboration and co-creation of meaningful goals and scientific discoveries. Together, we honor the legacy of the past while charting a future of innovation and responsible exploration.
OUR HISTORY
The Oxford University Exploration Club is one of the world's oldest exploration organisations, established in 1927, with a legacy of curiosity, resilience, and scientific discovery. Over its first century, the club has supported more than 450 expeditions globally, combining exploration with scientific fieldwork.
OUR FUTURE
The Centennial Expedition celebrates the club's past while demonstrating the advancement in exploration ethics and programming. To that end, this expedition sets the foundation for future generations of explorers to become involved in arctic research with local partners in ethical, safe expedition research.
